Interior Evening is one of a series of four screenprints (Interior Morning, Interior Noon, Interior Evening, Interior Night) created by Patrick Caulfield in 1971. The series used the same stencils, but with different inks, to depict the interior scene of a lampshade in front of a window at different times of the day. The red we can see through the window depicts the evening sunlight, offset in striking fashion by the green frame and shade. An excellent example of this beautiful print, copies of which are also held by public collections such as the Tate and the Victoria & Albert museums.
